Emerging Green Builders

Emerging Green Builders of Northern Colorado is a coalition of students and young professionals intent on promoting the integration of future leaders into the green building movement. 

 

The club’s goals are to:
• Increase visibility and broaden awareness of Emerging Green Builders
• Collaborate with other majors, student organizations, and community groups with similar goals and plans
• Engage members in hands-on learning activities and workshops
• Represent and inform members and the public on the wide range of green building options

News:

  • EGB is considering starting a USGBC Student Group. By becoming a USGBC Student Group we will have several benefits:
    • All USGBC Students members can have free access to two online courses
    • A reduced student rate of $150 for LEED workshop registrations is available to full-time, currently enrolled students
    • Deeply discounted purchases of LEED reference guides
       


Events:

  • February 9, 6:00 pm in Guggenheim 227: Mathew Wood from Ash Grove Cement Company will be presenting, "Is Grey the new Green." Participants will be able to define sustainable development, learn to reduce the carbon footprint of concrete through SCM's, Evaluate the life cycle carbon footprint of a building, demonstrate how to obtain LEED credits with concrete and calculate recycled content and regional materials
  • We are setting up a date to have Gallegos Sanitation discuss initial contact with a construction company to the creation of a waste plan. They will also discuss the materials accepted, contamination issues and reporting. 
  • After our Gallegos presentation, we will be taking a tour of the Larimer County Lanfill and their Education Center.
